![]() In 1974, the last of the Texas M1A (TM) rifles were made at their Radium, Texas address. Ballance built approximately 3000 before selling the company in 1974. The change was a successful marketing strategy. So, the name of his company was changed to Springfield Armory, Inc. Army Springfield Armory had closed down in 1968. in Devine, Texas began producing the M1A in 1971. Information I have gathered off the internet about this gun’s history is Elmer Ballance of the L.H. It has a TRW op rod, bolt & trigger group, it has vented fiberglass handguard and the stock was gloss refinished and appears to have been previously bedded near where the trigger group attaches. Gun is in terrific shape, no rust, bore and chamber are fine no pitts or rust, Barrel is marked “DEVINE TEX” on underside near the gas port. ![]() ![]() Description: EXAS M1A WITH 3 DIGIT SERIAL NUMBERĮlmer Ballance Devine, TX. ![]()
